Ok....I live in baton rouge and ALL over this town are gorgeous tree's with these long somewhat spikey plants planted at their base around them. What plants are they using for this? I can't find any information online with what I'm searching and I like the look. Yes I know some people don't, but I do. :)

Hello! I live in Leesville/Fort Polk area-- I would say they are cast iron plants around the trees. The other beautiful plants I have seen around trees here are caladiums and sword ferns. Happy Gardening!

Very likely Aspidistra (commonly called "cast iron" plant. Tough as nails, drought tolerant, will grow under the eaves of a house in poor soil. Does not like full sun. Will grow in partly sunny to full shade.
