They are technically hardy to zone 9 (20 degrees). You're mighty close, so depending on what kind of winter you've had, they may come back. Also, if you mulch, that could help. I'm in Zone 8a, and have only known them to return once in twenty years.

Donna, I think our lowest temp this winter was 23 degrees. Guess I'll keep my fingers crossed and wait another month or so.

Btw, if they don't make it can you suggest a true perennial replacement? I want something taller than dwarf, but not more than 3 feet tall.

How about Korean Feather grass?

I lost plants the last two years due to freezing temps. Looking for alternative.

Two of the three finally put out new growth. Since they were so small I dug them up and potted them.

Seeing new ones at the nursery was hard to resist so I decided to try again. Bought three qt. size pots and 1 gallon "Fireworks". Next winter I'll cover them when hard freezes are predicted.

Am still looking for one that's a guaranteed perennial. Something in the 3 foot range. Suggestions?
