Who's tried Feijoa?

I read they do better in cooler climates than ours, such as New Zealand. Has anyone on this list grown tasty ones?

God bless,

RE: Who's tried Feijoa?

The one we grew wasn't particularly tasty, but it did very well indeed. There was one in the neighborhood--don't remember if it's still there--that did very well longer, and was quite large and beautiful. I think if you want a tasty one you probably should see if you can find a named variety. Most the ones easily available will be seed-grown and flavor will be a matter of luck. Also I read somewhere that the flowers are tastier than the fruit! Don't think I tried them, and we had to take it out for space considerations. Very pretty tree!
