Best all year potted plants

Posted by Srilu none (My Page) on

We recently moved to Jackson MS. I would like to know what are some of the best potted plants which survive all year round in the patio. I bought a few plants just before winter, unfortunatly they all have withered through winter eventhough I was moving them in and out the house during freeze times. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

RE: Best all year potted plants

I had several Red Yucca plants which did fine in pots, even through a rather cold winter.

Potted Roses, of course, will survive outside (the reasonably hardy varieties) And you can underplant them with Day Lilies.

Problem with potted plants down there, though, is that Fire Ants love high ground for building their nests. It was a constant battle to keep the Ants out of the pots.

RE: Best all year potted plants

Possibly lenten roses (hellebores), real roses, yucca, rosemary, thyme, dwarf nandina, mixed hardy bulbs.
