My husband planted a little bit of this a few years ago in our flower bed, not knowing what it was. It has totally taken over. i have read some pretty scarry stuff about this weed and need any help i can get to try and get rid of it. Vinegar, roundup, plain ole digging?? I have gone into panic mode. Please, any and ALL suggestions will be appreciated!!

I would be very persistant about digging or pulling it up everywhere you see it, and altho I don't like herbicides, I might go ahead and use roundup when I see it come up. I probably would paint the roundup on it and not spray it where it might harm other plants. I was given some of this a couple years ago, and was told to keep it in a container becoz it will take over. I kept it in a container but it died. I really don't miss it.

Digging it up, alone, will not be enough. I used concentrated RoundUp and painted it on as louisianagal recommended. That eventually got rid of the stuff. I have had excellent luck keeping it in a closed bottom bog container. I have mine in a 3 part peat / 1 part pH-neutral sand mix.
