What shrub should I choose?

have a spot next to the driveway, and about 6' from the street, that needs something to camoflage a telephone pole and fire hydrant (hydrant is on the neighbor's property). thought about putting a crepe myrtle there, since it would grow up and not out (and present a car scrape scenario later). any suggestions?

| Crape myrtles have large and very hard root systems. They are crushing the concrete in my driveway and my next door neighbor's also. How about a native like a Silver Bell or a Pendulum Yaubon Holly. A Little Girl Magnolia, Little Gem or even a Star Magnolia would also look nice and not spread. |
