plant identification

a customer of mine brought a cutting to me and wanted to know what it was. at first glance i thought it was coral bells azalea, but the flowers are very small, only about an inch across and he claims the plant blooms almost all year long and is so covered with the flowers that the leaves are not evident. the leaves on the cutting are tiny, dark green and somewhat shiny. i have a photo of the cutting. the flowers are more pinkish than the photo shows.
i showed it to my associates and one thought it might be wild azalea but could not account for the bloom period and another thought it was coral bells. any help will be appreciated as he promised to root some for us.

RE: plant identification

I'll probably kick myself for being such a chowder-head when you get it identified, and please post it if it's identified by someone not on this forum. I bet we'd all like to know. If you don't get an answer here, you could try the Name That Plant forum, or the master gardeners or the Extension Service. Sometimes Master Gardeners work out of the extension office and I think sometimes they don't. Anyway--sure hope you get it identified!

Remontant azalias have been developed, and I'd bet that is one of the initial releases, like from the Encore series.
