splitting caladiums

I was planting new caladiums yesterday and dug up some that i planted last year. The old bulbs have really grown and I was wondering if there is a way that I can split it to make several bulbs without damaging it.

Hey Kevin,
I purchased caladiums, two years ago from Walmart.
The pots were pretty full when I purchased them so
when I planted them in the garden I divided them.
They came back up last year, I expect they'll come
back this year. You should be able to divide yours
as well. Good luck with the caladiums and your
garden.

Thanks. I was afraid that if I simply cut the bulbs (which look like small potatos), then I would damage them.

I am so glad to see this question and answer!!!

When I dig up my currently planted caladium bulbs to put them up for winter storage, do I divide them then or wait until I get ready to plant them next Spring?

Help will greatly be appreciated.

Here's a link on planting and care of caladiums.

Here is a link that might be useful: Caladiums for Florida
