| Hello all, Growing up in NOLA we had a little weedy plant that the fern-like leaves would shut when you touched them. They flowered as a small stalk with a pinkish ballish type flower on top (think Horton hears a Who). If anyone has these in their yard, I would love to come and dig a few up to try and grow them in a container. I have not seen them in Slidell at all. |

I remember the plant well. I was loved to touch them and watch them close. I haven't seen any in years. I'll keep an eye out for them and post if I find any. Good luck. I love the reference to Horton. You're right it does remind me of the cartoon. BA NOLA |

| Is this it? If so, it's proper name is Mimosa pudica. I googled it using the term "touch sensitive fern" and came across this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A8571963 Click on the link below for a picture. More pics were available at Google images using the term "mimosa pudica". I'm curious what its common name is, though. |
