| does anyone know what this is? it is under alot of my hawthornes and also have found some in my back flower bed around mums,could it be some type of fungus? when i was watering my garden one day last week i noticed smoke, and thought someone had thrown a cigarrte across the fence.the more i water the more smoke.so i decided to see what was going on and found these little balls ,i took a twig and as i touched it it seemed to blow up .i have never seen this before.any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. |

| I believe those are called "Puff balls". The smoke is made of spores. I don't think they hurt anything. Here's a link for more info: |
