Marigold leaves turning brown

I have planted Marigolds from seed. They are turning brown on the leaf tips and are not growing like they should. I was wondering what I'm doing wrong here. I added some organic compost to the beds so would that have anything to do with this problem? Anyways, I would appreciate any advice here.
