Anyone have any luck with Cape Gooseberries?

also known as goldenberries? I have tried and tried to grow them and only got one little berry. Is it just too hot here? Am I doing something wrong (a distinct possibility.)
If anyone in the area has a plant they'd like to swap I'm all for it. I also wanted to do Naranjilla but they are definatly not for the heat we have here (to anyone new here, it is gonna feel like you are being beaten with a dead fish until about October 15.) |

| New Orleans is just too hot for them. I knew someone else who tried but could not get them to live here. |
