Cajun Hibiscus

I was given a Cajun Hibiscus, I am not sure which variety, looks a lot like Gabriel. The leaves are turning yellow, but it has no bud drop. I read on another forum to mix one cup vinegar to one gallon water. Has anyone ever tried this, it is supposed to neutralize the soil.

Hi Sharon,
I haven't heard of that before. Is it getting to much
water. That can sometimes make leaves turn yellow.
I bought one last year at the New Orleans Botanical
Gardens show, it's called red beans and rice. It's
small but has a couple of buds. I'm anxious to see
what the flowers look like. Keep us posted.

It is in a pot and I water it when the top couple of inches dry out, I am careful not to get water on the leaves. I am debating on trying the vinegar and water thing, just don't know about it. Thanks for the help.

I've seen pictures of "Red Beans and Rice", it's a beauty.

Is the pot overgrown? I've been using Miracle grow
potting soil with water absorbing crystals, It's
been great. Keep me posted. i googled red beans and
rice hibiscus, now I remember why I bought it. I'm
excited about seeing it in person. They must have
had pictures at the sale last year. I don't usually
buy on impulse but I'm a sucker for red and orange
flowers. Keep in touch.

Brenda, no the pot is not overgrown, not too much water, it is not loosing leaves as fast and is doing a little better.

My Cajun Hibiscus is putting out lots of new growth, and the first of the leaves that it lost are coming back out. It still has some yellow spots, but hasn't lost but one leaf in the last couple of weeks. So all in all I am a happy camper with it now.

Thanks everyone for the advice, it was very helpful. I will take a picture to post next time it blooms.
