| Hello all,
I am growing a Mr. Rock Mirliton. I received the sprout in November 2009 and kept it inside in a pot all winter with great results. Lots of green healthy leaves. I began the transition to outside growing with hardening off and after 3 days the leaves began to wilt, turn brown and die. There appear to be 2-3 baby shoots beginning. I have trimmed the dead and dying leaves. The plant is in a 2.5 gallon pot in a good draining potting mix. The only thing I had a problem with was fungus gnats in the week before the mirliton went outside - they went away in the sunshine. Anyone know what I can do to keep this mirliton alive?? Thanks,
BTW - I am in Virginia. |

| Are you going to keep it in a pot? I would plant in the ground if possible and mulch well. My memory from Louisiana tells me it requires a trellis or chain link fence. |

| Thanks for your response. I have contacted the director of Adopt-A-Mirliton and since posting found out the plant is probably dead. Just an FYI - mirliton can be container grown. See link below -- click on photo to read entire thread. DL |
