dutchman's pipe vine

I don't have a clue as to where I should plant this, sun or shade or somewhere in between? I was thinking of putting it under the oak tree, allowing it to grow up it. Anyone have any suggestions?

RE: dutchman's pipe vine

I've grown three kinds of pipevine in New Orleans. Aristolochia gigantea, with huge flowers, got sun from early morning to mid afternoon. A. littoralis, the most common sort available, got light shade with several hours of midday sun. A. tomentosa, a native pipevine, got morning sun and in the afternoon deep shade. All 3 thrived! BTW, of these 3, only tomentosa will serve as a host plant for Pipevine Swallowtail caterpillars.
