| I know this is NOT how you spell the name of this plant but this is how it is pronounced. Can anyone help me with any info about this plant /shrub? I know it grows here and likes shade. It produces fragrant flowers and also some sort of fruit that you can make jelly with. ANY info. would help...THANKS Wildair2 |

OK, I'll take a run at this. My first thought was that you were looking for the Elaeagnus pungens, the Russian Olive but the discription did not quite match. This may be what you are looking for: Elaeagnus multiflora, common name gumi, cherry elaegnus. Not common, has fragrant flowers, edible fruit used to make jelly and sweets. deciduous, however it prefers sun not shade. If nothing else I have learned about a new, interesting edible plant. Good luck in your search. Bob |

| I met it at Durio's Louisiana Nursery quite a few years ago. Don't know if they still have it, but it sure is tasty. Don't even remember what it looked like! |
