I think you're right, but I don't actually know. I too grew it elsewhere and loved it, but understand it won't like the heat and humidity. There must surely be other smaller-growing evergreens we can grow, but the ones I've tried haven't made it, and there are so many things that love the weather that I tend to concentrate on them.
