zinnias

Something is turning my zinnia leaves brown, and eating the leaves. It is not slugs. Looks like a spider web but do not see anything. Have found small round pea looking things in the bed, when you pick them up and mash them a powdery white substance comes out. I need help. Thanks,

That web sounds suspiciously like spider mites, which are visible if your eyesight is sharp, though they are tiny. Look on the undersides of the leaves.

As to remedies, I don't know. I don't use insecticides myself and don't know how organic gardeners deal with these. Good luck.

Try Neem oil. It's a fairly safe biological product. I'm using it to fight a whitefly population on my salvias this summer.

Here is a link that might be useful: Neem oil
