Bougainvillea

I am thinking of planting my bougainvillea in the ground I live in hancock county, MS. I have read that they are hardy to 20 degrees. I thought if I covered it during the time of frost that it should come back from the ground. Anyone in this area tried this?

RE: Bougainvillea

I'm in Louisiana, 60 miles from the gulf, and just planted two Bougainvilleas in the ground on the advise of my freind. Her ground vine is about 25 yrs old and beautiful. I'll cover my vine if we ever get a low temperature and hope for the best. Good luck with yours.
