ant like bugs on weeping fig

| There are bugs on my weeping fig. They are the size (1/8")and almost shape of small ants, but more streamlined than ants. They are solid black. They live only on the newest growth and these leaves close up along the spine of the leaf, so that the leaf folds closed shut. The leaves have a light brown spotting on them after the bugs have been there a while. How should I treat the plant to get rid of this pest.
Thanks so much,

| Here is a very "green" or organic treatment. Crush 3 garlic clove, I mean really make a crushed paste from them. Put them in a quart glass jar. A pickle or mayo jar is fine. Put it in the sun and let it sit for a couple of days. Strain the water through a cloth, paper towel or coffee filter. Put about 3 drops of dish washing liquid (Dawn, Joy, Dove) and mix slowly. Now put the liquid in a spray bottle sit it outdoors and in the shade and spray your plant. Check it the next day and spray again if needed. You can also spray the soil. When the bugs are gone, use the hose to wash it off well and bring back inside. |
