RE: purple martins

I too live in the Tupelo area. Purple martins arrive usually after the 20th of February. I have had them a little bit earlier. Put your houses up at least by the lst of February or before. As far as moving plants this time of year, I start after the 15th of September. Frost date is usually around October 20th. I have a lot of perennials mostly daylilys and this gives them time to get new roots before it turns cold. Glad to have you in Northeast, Miss.
There will be a visitors day at Mississippi State Experiment Station, Verona, September 30th. Lots of new ideas, gardens on display and local Master Gardeners there. You will meet a lot of good people. If I can help just send me an e-mail. Thanks Larry
