For any Ginger fans out there

I posted this in the ginger forum, but there will be a ginger conference in Baton Rouge (at the Burden Research Station) on August 5th and 6th. The 5th is a catered dinner event with two lectures on the search for new gingers (one on the americas, and one on south east asia). Reservations need to be made/purchased for this event, and people in attendance have first crack at some of the rarer gingers that will be available. The guest speaker is John Banta of Alva, Florida who is a world renowned plant collector known for such great introductions at Kaempferia 'Grande', Cornukaempferia 'Jungle Gold', Zingiber 'Midnight' and dozens more.

Saturday is the main plant sale and will feature three talks on ornamental gingers and bananas. spaces for saturday's talks are first come first serve.

should be a great event for the ginger enthusiasts out there. below is a link to LSU's site that has the schedule and more info on how to purchase a reservation for friday night.

Thank you for posting, Tim. I'm going to try to get a carload to go, probably just Saturday. Anyway--if wishes were horses--!!
