Aged gin trash is good compost. There is controversy on the Compost forum about possible chemicals, but it's been a great amendment in my garden.

The gin trash is usually free. If you have to pay to have it hauled, it's kind of dear. A semi-load cost us a hundred dollars for hauling, but it's still cheaper than compost by the bag.

I've heard from someone who uses it that it dries out your soil (she didn't compost it, just used the older piles).

I would think if it were composted first it would be great stuff -- she says the beds she put it in grew GREAT, but they really needed watering.

Sometimes you get weed seed in it but you can you can get rid of it if you start early.It is very good around roses.I use it everywhere on grass it needs to be raked in,pot plants needs to be mix soil anything else just spread it around.I have had good luck with it. Jim
