You can bring a horticulture, but you can't make her think.

    Horticulture, huh?
Type in a search engine "National Garden Club Federation". Should give you the names of garden clubs in your area.

There is a Gardening group within the Gulf Coast Newcomers Club. The Newcomers Club meets for lunch on the second Tues. each month at the Gulfport Holiday Inn on Hiway 90. We "sign up" for the Garden Group meeting at each Newcomers meeting. Next Newcomers lunch meeting will be Sept.14th at 11:30. Lunch is $9.

There are a bunch of us on the coast into tropicals. If there isn't one maybe there should be one.

Looking at the websites suggested, I see things like -yawn- camellias, orchids, roses, but no tropicals.

I was thinking of having rather a different kind of club, more laid back, as it were

I'm a member of Ocean Springs Yacht Club, so we can use the club and its facilities for meetings (kitchen, bar, seating)

but I think it's a bit of a trip for some, way down on this end. Suggestions?

Hello Tami...I live in Ocean Springs but am starting a homestead in Vancleave. An acre or two will be set aside for palms, bamboo and such. Friends in Vancleave have a wonderful tropical patio garden and we get together and talk plants about every other weekend. Let me know if you want to join us. tjjh AT mindspring.com
