Looking for plant suggestion for full sun area....

| Not sure what happened, but my 10 foot plus sweet almond verbena is leaning at 90 degrees. We've had rain all day along with the occasional gust, but I don't think that's the cause. Anyway, I'll need to replace it and the question is with what?
About 6' behind the verbena is a Natchez crepe myrtle planted earlier this year. It's about 8 feet tall. About 10 feet in front of the verbena is a river birch planted last December. It's probably 12 feet tall. I don't want to replace the verbena with anything that gets as tall as either current tree. I'd like something that blooms ... evergreen would be nice, but not necessary. If it attracts hummers that's even better.
All suggestions welcome! |

| Even though it's a full sun area right now the crepe myrtle will soon provide some shading, so I'm thinking about a Camellia japonica. Also considering Itea virginica (Virginia Willow/Sweetspire). Any comments? |

| Guess this is called thinking aloud, but that's ok, lol. I can print a copy when I'm ready to go to the nursery. After a little more research I'm leaning toward Camellia sasanqua ... I'd love to find a "Mine-no-yuki". And I'm still considering Virginia Sweetspire ... "Henry's Garnet" if I can find it. |
