Night-blooming jasmine

Last night, my night-blooming jasmine profusely bloomed in all its glory. The smell was extremely intoxicating and you could smell it from approximately 50 feet away thanks to the very light breeze.

I never imagined the aroma of the flowers could be so overpowering. Pitty my windows are painted shut. Would have been nice to open my windows last night. Tonight should be great too.

It had bloomed a number of times previously since I purchased the plant from a Florida nursery back in the late spring, but only a hint of aroma.

If you don't have one of these plants in your garden, you are missing out.

They are awesome. I have some in the back yard and sometimes when the wind is just right you can smell them all the way to the front driveway. I put 2 in huge huge pots and put them on either side of the swing. There is also a madagascar jasmine and a lemon tree that blossoms all the time it seems. Talk about knock you down fragance- LOL!
One can grow them from cuttings or seeds easily and the hawk moths love them.
LA botanist ~ I would be putting a screw driver into those window frames :P

Aren't they to die for. I am in zone 8 south of Dallas and I cut mine to the ground last year before we had a frost and mine are back bigger and more fragrant than ever. I have some in a bed with angel trumpets and it smells so good at night. We live in the middle of a bunch of cattle and the cover up that smell.
I would highly recomend them.
