| We're taking on 2000 survivors of Katrina here in Jonesboro, Arkansas (about an hour from Memphis, TN). I am wondering if any of you know of any GWers or other gardeners who may have been sent here? I have tons of extra plants and would love to help them rebuild their lives and their gardens. I might even be able to offer them a room in my house until they get back on their feet, providing we're compatible.
Do y'all know anyone who headed this way?

| Have you considered putting an 'ad' on the local radio station? They'll probably be very happy to help out. |

| The Red Cross will put you in touch with someone needing a place to stay. You might also try local churches. A lot of them are putting up people. Hope you find someone compatible. |

| I still haven't found any GW Katrina evacuees here in town. And I haven't taken in any evacuees. As soon as I got a room ready, I ended up in the hospital TWICE. Hopefully next week I can have the procedure I need, if the hospital will let me in even tho I have no insurance. If any of you know any GWers who had to evacuate to Jonesboro, let me know. We took in about 2000 from the gulf coast. Perhaps they could stay with me until they get on their feet and then I could give them plants to rebuild their gardens. I have contacted the shelters and the Red Cross. But I really don't want "just anyone". Afterall, we are talking about a living arrangement in a small house. So I'd like to screen my "roommates". And I thought someone here might have family or friends who had had to evacuate here. NancyAnn |
