Things I wish I'd done/bought before hurricane

After just going thru Charley and Francis, thought I'd share this with you guys, just in case...

Wish I had done:
Pay your bills--you won't have the strength or withitness to do it after a hurricane

Get sedatives--Many friends got sedatives for their skiddish pets, also if you have an elderly parent living with you--my neighbor spent the entire hurricane trying to keep his mother from going outside!

Take pictures of your yard

Bring gardening/work gloves in the house so they aren't wet or damp. Know where all your garden tools are and easy to get at.
Pull weeds--they grow so fast with the rain and spread those seeds
Mow grass--it too grows like crazy
Treat perimeter of house for ants, they really invade the house
Get mosquito repellant for afterwards

Things I wish I had bought:

Yard bags to bag up all the debris
Stakes and twine/rope to stake knocked over shrubs/trees
Extra pair of garden gloves, hopefully you'll have an extra pair of hands.
Rid-X start treating now, and have on hand for after
Kitty litter--humans can use it too
Eye dropper--it's for the clorax,8 drops in a gallon of water, shake wait 30 mins, then ok to drink
Clariton-D--all that molding yard debris is everywhere

Hope this helps for those of you who are feeling they need to do something, but not quite sure what.
Let's all pray Ivan loses it's strength and is just one big rainstorm for whereever he decides to go

From what y'all have been through and will go through with Ivan, I think the most important thing is TRANQUILIZERS.
You can always replant and clean up but you can't always get yourself together enough to do it. Hurricanes are traumatic and three in a row just kills the human spirit. God bless.

live oak, the news down here is now saying further west, that would be putting you in harms way..what does DH say, I really don't rely on the National Hurricanne Ctr's track, I like our local weather man, but being Sat., and I think they are giving him some much deserved rest.
