Hilltop's PlantFest coming soon

I am so sick of this heat & humidity, but knowing Hilltop's sale is just around the corner gives me hope that so are the those first coolish fall days.

Anyone plan on going?

Here is a link that might be useful: Hilltop Arboretum PlantFest 2006

Hi, I just checked out the link. Have you been to the Plant Fest before? Are the prices reasonable? I may need to plan a trip to Baton Rouge that weekend. Thanks

The prices are definitely reasonable. I bought a couple swamp maples two years ago for $4 each. The trees are now 6' tall. Bought a few more trees last year, the most expensive was a Silverbell for $20. The arboretum location is part of the reason you should go. My only advice is try to get there Saturday morning. The past few years the sale days were Friday & Saturday. My guess is things will go fast with strictly weekend hours.

BTW, plan a stop at the Red Stick Farmers Market too if you're in town before noon.

Go as early as you can. The most special plants are usually in limited supply. Used to know someone who went for the last few hours so she could get plants on sale, which might be okay, but I know you'd miss some. We have gotten a few things that didn't do too well, but that's always a possibility anywhere. Really a worthwhile trip.
