Of course there are hostas, you can find some on sale at times or in Lowe's clearance area. Even if they look somewhat ratty, just clip them some and they'll rejuvenate. I also have lots of wild violets in the shade that spread quite a bit. If you can find some in the wild or get from friends, they multiply pretty well. You could do a mixture of things like ferns in there too. I have found ferns cheap by buying the (?) roots I guess like where you buy the bulbs in a bag.
