I would think you would find multitudes of anoles and mediteranian geckoes. Unless of course, you spray alot of pesticide.

You would think so but I haven't seen a one and I'm out there all the time. We have birds, crickets, grasshoppers butterflies, dragonflies, lightningbugs, frogs, toads, mice (small field mice) spiders and other misc bugs I can't identify. But no lizards. Go figure. Not many squirrels either. None on our property and only a couple on other properties that we've seen. The locals may hunt the squirrel I know some people eat them. But I love to watch the lizard in our NOLA yard. I'll keep an eye out although I'm not confident that I'll see any. Well happy gardening. It's been so nice outside. The weather is still hot but not as bad as July and August.

We definitely miss the lizards up here in Tupelo. We were surprised there are none in MS. However I was in Wiggins, near Gulfport, for Labor Day, and I did see some. I guess they like a very warm climate, it gets in the single digits at times here in winter, and definitely in the teens each winter.
We are thankful for the toads. We are organic, so pesticides and herbicides are not an issue.

I think you have something there, with the temp. We have loads in Hammond, and when I lived in Bay St,Louis had them, also loads in Kissimmee FL. so it might be the coastal hot climates they favor.

Lizards won't stick around where there is nothing to eat. When I first moved to FL, I started spraying around my house for palmetto bugs and those large roaches, and the lizards literally disappeared. When I stopped spraying the yard, they came back. You can have some of mine! They get in the house, and I can't catch them, so they eventually die. Makes me sad.

I have tons of skinks and anoles. I haven't seen as many this year, but I think it's because it was so dry.
