Grapevine problems, please help

Posted by pfairley msusa (My Page) on

I live on the Gulf Coast of MS. I planted some grape vines, Thompson and Red. I put them in big pots until they started to vine. They are growing well in the miracle grow, but now I have liquid white patch about 2 inches long that are on a few of the branches. It gathers enough to drop on the ground below in. It almost looks like a very thick liquid mildew. Please let me know what this is and how to fix it. I dont know if it will get on any of the other plants that are by it. I will check back daily to check for advise. Thanks

Felder Rushing has always been a great help to me. When I asked him about planting grapes he told me which one would grow best in the south (Z8). He was right, we have plenty of grapes and have had no problems with the vines - except that I can't get my husband to agree to cut them back in the winter. He suggested I plant muscadine grapes.
