THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL OF YOUR INPUT. I'M STILL AT A LOSS TO TRUELY IDENTIFY IT. I HOPE THIS PICTURE COMES OUT....THIS CAME FROM MY PHOTOBUCKET ACCOUNT. IT DOES HAVE A HARD SKIN AND THE PETALS AT TOP ARE VERY HARD(PLYABLE) BUT HARD. IT LOOKS SO MUCH LIKE A TOMATO THAT IT'S CRAZY BUT I KNOW THAT TO BE IMPOSSIBLE. PLEASE....MORE HELP. LOL.

do a google search for persimmon, there are several varieties and I saw a picture similar to yours.

You might want to contact your local extension office. They should know what it is.
You could even contact LSU. You'll have to look it up to find an email address.
