Hybrid Teas

I would like to know what are some good Hybrid Tea roses to grow in our hot humid climate down here? I live in New Orleans and I grow roses and I can safely say Paradise is a good hot weather rose, but I would like to know some more that can take the heat?

RE: Hybrid Teas

I haven't had very good luck with hybrid teas but I can suggest some other roses such as chinas, polyanthas and noisettes. I've heard that the older "teas" do well in LA and are very disease resistant.

RE: Hybrid Teas

I just started buying roses and a few weeks ago I went to Gardensmith on the west bank. They have a nice large selection of roses that do well in New Orleans, many are antique roses. They were very helpful and were recommended by other Garden web members.

RE: Hybrid Teas

Queen Elizabeth and St Patrick love our weather. The florabundas, Livin Easy, Iceberg and Red Rascal also do well. I recommend Belinda's Dream, if you want Hybrid Tea and smell with a disease-free plant. The tea Mrs Dudley Cross does well here. So do most of the hybrid musk roses like Penelope and the polyanthas like Marie Daly. You might try a few climbers like Don Juan or New Dawn. They are all great season long rebloomers.
