Horrible house eating vine with yellow flowers

My mother calls it Creeping Charlie. Others call it cat's claw. I want to know what the scientific name is so I can get rid of it. The seeds are all in my compost and I have to keep pulling up little shoots of it; if you fail to get up the master tuber (about the size and shape of a longneck beer bottle) it never dies and keeps sending up more shoots. HELP!
It's all over New Orleans, which is why I'm asking here instead of on the Weed forum. |

| Macfadyena unguis-cati. I am afraid that knowing its name will not give you the secret of its eradication. It was this pest that first led me to the GardenWeb years ago. Dig deep and keep the Round-up handy. It is a distant relative of the Catalpa. |

It makes a potato like ball underground that must be removed. So if you are digging make sure to get rid of ... not on the compost but can it ... any small ball like roots you find. Or you will have the wonderful plant climbing your house, light pole, neighbors house by the end of next summer. Roundup may work but I would dig! Mike |
