Overwintering Plumeria in LA?

I was wondering when to move the plumeria indoors in S. LA? Any experienced growers have any advice on overwintering plummies here? TIA

Mine are in the ground and I strip the leaves off and dig them up when the temps are predicted to drop below 40. I wrap the root ball with a black leaf bag and store them in my garage. Add a little heater when necessary. Been doing this for 15 years and never lost one.

I have just started drying out mine. I keep the really large ones on the carport and the smaller in an unlighted storeroom with a few in the sun room. I take them out and start watering in mid March. Never have lost one, and the more established ones start reblooming by mid April. They really are tough boogers.

Thanks for the tips. This is my first winter with plumeria , I wasn't sure when to bring em. I had heard you could let them dry out and store them like brugmansia. I feel better about it now :)

The friend who gave me my first plumeria cutting said she just stuck hers in a corner in the living room and got a kick out of the people who wondered why she kept an old broomstick in a pot. I kept mine in the house 'til they got big enough to take up too much room (more plants than space!) and then stuck it up in the attic 'til I couldn't get it up there anymore. They don't need light or water when they're dormant--except for the evergreen ones, I assume; this is my first wiinter with a good-sized one of those--but do need to be at least above freezing. Last winter my big one was in the carport and I was afraid it might get to cold, but it came through just fine. My impression is they would rot if they were very cold and wet.

In our courtyard in the French Quarter, surrounded by what should have been heat retaining warm brick walls and the "heat island" of the city, my Plumerias turned to liquid mush at 20F.
