Hi, Tdel! Years ago someone on another site linked her Google beta
search which searches seed sites, and I saved it on my computer. I don't
know how she set up the search; it doesn't search every seed site, and
not those which post in .pdf format.

I've set the search (linked at the end of my post) for "red noodle" and
"bean". If you click on it, you'll get a rather daunting 3,000+ results
(which Google then thins to 63 -- but you can see them all if you click
on the link on the last page).

Of the seed-sellers in that list of 63:

Baker Creek (www.rareseeds.com) is a great US vendor, and will ship
internationally.

Johnny's Selected Seeds sells to gardeners and also commercial growers.
They seem worried about the Canadian phytosanitary laws (I'm not
clear on whether that applies to seeds), so you might not want to order
from them. Or maybe ask Canadian GWebbers if anyone has ordered
from Johnny's.

Sand Hill Preservation is a great, inexpensive vendor; I happened to
read yesterday that they sell to Canada if payment is made in US dollars.

Pinetree Garden is a good company (cheap prices but lower seed counts).
They have detailed info on international purchases.

Southern Exposure Seed Exchange will sell to Canada, but cautions that
seeds don't always arrive.

Fedco is wonderful and cheap, but doesn't say anything about shipping
outside the US.

Kitazawa will not ship outside the U.S.

Gourmet Seeds, Nichols Garden, and Rohrer I know nothing about; Jung
is okay (I didn't check any of these to see whether they ship to Canada).

Most folks caution to avoid Reimer, Tradewinds, and Amishland for
various reasons. Local Harvest is not a seed vendor.

Google beta search for "red noodle" bean seeds

Try searching for them under their full name of "Chinese Red Noodle". It is a very popular variety, numerous companies - including virtually all Asian seed vendors - carry it. A Canadian source is listed below.

"Chinese Red Noodle" requires a fairly long, consistently warm season (a grower in southern Ontario lists their DTM as 85 days) and might be a bit of a stretch for northern Ontario. In northeast Wisconsin, I can usually get a fairly good crop, but can't always get dry seed. The green-podded / black-seeded pole cultivars tend to have a shorter DTM. "Asparagus Bean" (dark green pods) and "Taiwan Black" (very long, light green pods) are two that I could recommend.

There are bush long beans which have an even shorter DTM - mine begin bearing in about 50 days. The light green pods are shorter (about 12") but the quality is fairly good. The source below, in addition to the "Red Noodle", carries a bush variety that looks similar to the one I grow... it would probably offer the best chances of success for your location.

Regardless of the variety you choose, starting the seeds as transplants will improve your chances. The seedlings will get leggy quickly under artificial light, though, so they need to be placed in full sun as soon as they germinate.

Mandy's greenhouse has them listed, link below. I saw them listed somewhere else here in Canada the other day but for the life of me I can't remember where. The Cottage Gardener has a red podded Asparagus bean listed, whether it's the same as CRN or something different?

I noticed, though, that it appears Mandy's is going out of business after May 2014. Might be a good time to order anything she has which is unique... a couple caught my eye, but I gathered from the remarks on the site that she may not ship to the U.S.
