Clara Half Runner

Hey folks,

I would like to know if anyone here has Clara Half Runner? I read the description in an old SSE Yearbook and then did a search for the source: C.C. Kiesling, AR.

The description I read sounds somewhat like that of Woods Mountain Crazy Bean, other than that I wouldn't consider Woods Mountain Crazy Bean to be a half runner. Anyway, I did some searching and found a tantalizing clue, which may or may not be it.

I'd be interested in finding more info on the history of this bean, and probably trying it to compare.

Here's what I found:

The Courier Index, Thursday, January 6, 1983

"RENT AT TURNER DRUG CO. 1:6:1tp FOR RENT 5 rooms &bath, 2 miles south on Wire Road See or Call Mrs. C. C. Kiesling at 295 6771 12 30:3tp":

I can't retrace my steps. But I thought I found reference to this Turner Drug. Co. being in Fayetteville. Also, the Old Wire Road ran from Fayetteville to somewhere in Missouri.

This makes me wonder if there wasn't a regional landrace bean, from which Woods Mountain and Clara Half Runner emerged.
