How to keep rabbits out, let kids in?

I work on the children's garden at my son's preschool. Last year I eagerly printed green beans interspersed with the tomatoes to climb a big arching trellis. Unfortunately the local rabbits ate the beans down to nibs. I put in little "cuffs" around the bottom where the beans were planted that were about 12-18" tall, hoping this would dissuade the bunnies but still allow the kids to harvest.

No such luck. as soon as the beans were grown above the protective cuff, the bunnies at the tops off again. we didnt get to harvest a single bean.

The bed is large (too large, but I wasnt there to consult on the original bed creation), roughly 6 or 7 feet by five feet.

Any advice from the seasoned gardeners about the best way to protect the beans from bunnies but in a way that would still allow the children to harvest?
