Southern peas (similar to beans as a food item) take heat well and would probably love your climate.

Willhite, TX, has a large selection. Many varieties climb + are more prolific when grown on trellis. People say they're draught tolerant.

I think Southern peas are of the same family as the Yard-Long/Asparagus/Mosaic/Red Noodle beans.

Tepary beans are eaten as a dried bean so it might not be what you're looking for, but "heat tolerant" and "drought tolerant" are truly understatements when it comes to to them.

I have heard about them and they sound interesting. My garden is very small so I am trying to stick with pole beans,
