My favas stopped podding in summer heat and started up again in the cooler fall, but made smaller pods.

What is your location? What does ss17 stand for? What is the weather there now? Hard to guess what the problem might be without more info.

Happy, in addition to "9b", I believe Pylot's reference to "ss17" is specifying their region according to the Sunset Climate Table. (See link below)

So, my guess is Pylot lives in a Temperate, Coastal region.

That's just a WAG of course lol.

Pylot, I planted my favas in early October and they are flowering now. Last year they took a very long time to set pods. Just give them a little more time. Let us know how they do and when you get pods?

So looks like Pylot is right on the coast, maybe it is too cold and windy or they are building root structure now. You could try putting a plastic mini greenhouse or hoophouse of some kind over them and see if a little warmer and drier conditions help them to pod. Maybe leave it open in places to let in any insects that might help pollinate that might be around at times.

Thanks everyone for input! I would not say it's been that cold, mid 50s during the day and mid 40s at night. My broccoli is doing great, and the lemon tree set lots of little ones. However, the favas grew tall (4-5 ft), made lots of flowers but no pods yet. It's been quite wet and rainy, so maybe that's is why... I just hope I could harvest some by end of April, when it's time for the summer crop.
