Beans, Peas & Legumes

Peas in Michigan

We still have snow in our yard, but some of my garden raised beds are now bare. The soil doesn't seem too sodden, either. Is it too early to plant peas in Zone 5, or should I wait until April? They're going to be in a bed with some afternoon shade, so I don't think the warmer May temps will hurt them too much.

It is not warm temps in may that you have to watch for, it is at least 50 degree soil temps so the seed will grow. You can pre-germinate the seed in moist towels at room temps. That will help some.
