A silly question perhaps... but have you tried asking Gere at Baker Creek? He is an SSE member, and maintains the histories of his seeds.

No, but I did go to the website to look for the description and it doesn't look like they are selling it this year. I couldn't find it at all. They have forums too, that they actively moderate, so I will try that. I was just thinking some of the "beany" experts here might know something.

I am also interested in buying runner beans from chaco canyons. In fact these beans are grown like ordinary beans with one major difference: they prefer cooler temperatures. Sow in spring about two weeks before last frost; young seedlings tolerate a light frost. Plant the large seeds 1-3 inches deep, 4-6 inches apart at base of trellis or other support. Use the robust pods as snaps, or allow the seed to mature further for shell or dried use. Hot summer weather usually shuts production down, but the plants may start bearing again when the weather cools. Says keens

This place saves and sells seeds with a Native American link. I didn't find a Chaco Canyon runner, but they do have Four Corners, which is in the same region, so it may be close to what you have. What do you think? Similar seed?

Hi Everyone! This Spring (April 2011) at our Seed Swap at our Grange, I was given about 35 of what they called, "Chaco Canyon Beans." They are about the size of a Baby Lima and look like a Navy Bean on steroids! I will be planting them this afternoon. When (and IF) I get a crop from them, I would certainly share what I can spare with anyone who wants them.
