Volunteer long beans - a few questions

dancinglemons

Hello all,

I am only a fair bit knowledgeable about seed saving but I have a question or two. Last year I grew a very successful patch of Orient Wonder long beans. About two weeks ago I prepped my raised bean beds for a crop of squash. Today I noticed several long bean volunteer seedlings in that bed. The question is this - would growing out these volunteers and saving their seed possibly give me a long bean which has better seed vigor in cold soil? Will these volunteers survive being moved to another location? I've never had long bean volunteers before. I might mention that we had almost no winter here in Central Virginia this year.

Any and all comments/help is appreciated :-)
