Cucumbers are turning yellow

My cucumbers are drying up and turning yellow and brown. Is this a disease or lack of water? It's been very hot and dry here in FL. We need rain bad. I've been watering but wonder if I need to water more. Also, My husband sprayed them for bugs in the morning. Could that have burned them?
