My husband and I are planting green beans this year. Will 8 plants be enough?

so many unknowns in that question. You would get replies if you gave more info.such as, type beans, soil, sun, where you live and how many beans you hope to end up with.

No, 8 plants won't be enough. Plan on at least 20 plants for some beans to eat fresh and about 100 plants if you want to preserve some. As noted above, a lot depends on bush vs pole and climate, etc.

No. Pole or bush... no.

Back when we were a family of two, we used to grow roughly 120 feet of bush beans for fresh eating and freezing for winter. Spacing the bean seeds every four inches, that's 360 plants.

Nowadays, we're a family of four and this year I'm planting 80 feet of bush beans (240 plants) plus 22 feet of pole beans (44 plants, higher yield per plant). We still blanch and freeze for winter as well as eating fresh.

We really love green beans, though. ;)

It all depends on how much you use them., everyday ? once a week ?
