First pair true leaves fell off and drying leaves on bush bean!

So it's my first time growing bush beans and I'm real excited because they germinated and grew so fast! This morning, my beans were fine but when I came home this afternoon... I think Mother Nature doesn't want me to have beans this year because it seems like the winds kept knocking their leaves back and forth till they just broke off and flew away... and then I noticed the leaves that did survive were shriveling up and drying up from the tips? Why? What is wrong?

These are being grown in containers by the way. I have lots of pictures... I think the beans that lost their true leaves might still survive since it has new leaves coming out from the top already... but I'm worried about the leaves drying up... these are Burpee's Bushmaster Garden beans by the way.

Hi,

I'm not an expert by any means, but I'm guessing that your beans are coming along by now? Sometimes the first few sets of leaves on my bush beans look a bit poorly - I think it's sometimes related to temperature/moisture and wind could also be a factor with tender leaves. Beans really like it to be warm - 70s+ warm. Perhaps yours had a bit of a shock from cool temps a few nights? H

How are they doing now?

Thanks for replying to back to me. 3 out of 4 of the previously mentioned beans are now fine, they sprouted new growth. The 4th, I cannot say much about as it seems like it may have taken too much of a shock, the new leaves that were supposedly going to come out, have hardly opened up and I see hints of them already drying up. Oh wells, 3 out of 4 is still good enough. It's gotten a lot warmer lately now in the 70s than it was before where it fluctuated more between mid 50s to 70s. Thanks for the temperature info.
