Bean Leaf Beetles

I'm a very new gardener (first garden ever this season), and already my bush bean plants (along with everything else) seem to be doing quite well... except for the small invasion of what I'm pretty sure are bean leaf beetles (based on info from other gardenweb forums). I've already started to treat the plants with a "Neem" based insecticide. I'm in a brand new house in a brand new neighborhood (that was cotton farms previously), and I've planted my garden in raised beds. So here's my question: given that this is a new garden in a new backyard in a new neighborhood, how on earth did these bean leaf beetles find my beans so fast? Just curious if anyone knows. Do bean leaf beetles have some sort of bean plant radar?! Thanks!
