snow pea basics

Ive never grown snow peas. That said I have a few questions. I have a 1x8 foot spot that is right next to my onions and about 2 feet away from my garlic. Assuming there arent any major concerns, my plan is to plant the snow peas behind the onions. I would also like to plant an acorn squash to the right and then a few tomatoes to the left. My first question is there any problem with these plants being companion? Second, how high should I trellis the snow peas. How tall can they get? Any suggestions as far as fertilizing or watering. I have filled my raised garden with compost which seems to be rich in N, K and weak P.(I tested the soil). Thanks for any help.
