How many poles and how far apart are they? I would plant 3 seeds per pole, if the poles are 6-10" apart. You may also plant 5 seeds per pole and if all germinate, cut 1 or 2 at ground level.

most teepee's have a base of about 3 to 4 feet. This is adequate for 2 or 3 plants per pole. Do NOT plant lima beans this thick, they would be best with 1 or 2 plants per pole.

I have a base of four feet with eight poles. I will thin to 2 or 3 per pole.

I use 4-pole teepees (3' base) with 6 plants around each pole. So, your 8-pole teepees would probably do well with three plants around each.
